Science Roadshow

All the Year 3 , 4, 5 and 6 students took the bis to Reporoa College to attend the Science Roadshow. We had 2 amazing science displays and spent time exploring many science stations to learn about different aspects of science. Some College students were available to explain the science behind the stations and we had lots of our fantastic parents to help the students as well.

Speech Preparation

We are learning to add an engaging hook into our speeches. The hook had to match the purpose of the  speech topic. Well done for Lucas and Golda displaying the virtue of courage and let me film them.
Can you guess Golda's hook technique?

What technique did Lucas use?

Remember to check out our class wiki to get more information to help you structure your speech and with speech delivery. You have 3 week left to prepare.

Week 3 Assembly

Thank you to Sara and Travis who led assembly today. Thank you to Lucas who prepared and presented our learning about inferring the meaning of Whakatauki and Proverbs. Congratulations to Angus who's visual art was selected as the winning image from the senior students.

We enjoyed watching Room share their learning about why Mrs Baker felt the way she did about the National Anthem of Germany. We loved the movie Matua James.

Fire Safety

It was lovely to have Stuart and Steve in school today to support the message from Teachers about Fire Safety. Our fire drill on Thursday reminded us what to do if there was ever an emergency situation.
I hope you have used the booklet that came home in Week 1 to talk about fire safety at home.

Go Bananaz

This is always a special time of the week where we learn how to live using our virtues. It's nice to have you back Matua Jono and Whaea Ruth.

Learning how to infer a message we receive through our eyes

Miers van hout is a dutch artist who creates lovely art work that depicts emotions.
We were inferring the feelings by looking closely at the lines, colour, shape and size. We then had to use google translator to see if we were correct.
Fun learning with Room 5 today!

Visual Language

Whaea Aimee has encouraged us to enter a competition run by Resene to win art supplies for school. We have to showcase our school to the community somehow. We have decided to beautify the shed by the sandpit with a new mural so we are planning hard to come up with some origional ideas.

Trailing Seesaw

Hi Whanau,
I am keen to use Seesaw as another way to share student learning.
Your child should have brought home a letter with a QR code you will need to scan once you have downloaded the app Seesaw Family.
Here's a video to explain how it works.

Pied Piper

This was the video we watched today, Room 3. Have a listen to all the tunes and think about how they enhance the message of the story. (as well as just enjoying it and having fun!)
Also, keep an eye out for that tuba player!
